Colchester Prayer net exists to facilitate fervent, united prayer for the town of Colchester 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is about mobilising prayer at a grass roots' level. We invite individuals to commit to a regular slot each week. There is no registration fee or charge of any kind.
We launched the prayer net in March 2003, and represent over 50 churches of various denominations.
Each month we compile a prayer guide to provide focus for prayer. We then e-mail or post this to those who have registered on the Prayer Net. The content is a combination of devotional material, feedback from the previous month's intercession, and prayer points about Christian projects and initiatives.
The prayer net is essentially a network and has no organisational structure.
So far we have focused on the following areas:
-
Churches of Colchester, leadership, united events, including Hope on the Streets
-
Local government and elected councilors
-
Teachers, students, schools and colleges, prayer rooms in schools
-
The Arts, business sector, the Garrison, the Police.
-
Health Care and Hospitals
-
Homeless and the vulnerable; Open Door, Out for Good, Night Stop, the Soup Run, the New Neighbours' Programme
